COURSES BEGIN SEPTEMBER 2025
God loves us and desires that we continually grow into who we are created to be. ​LIS offers a personal spiritual experience through Ignatian Spiritual Formation as a pathway to discern and develop the gifts God has given us, and to actualize God’s call to love in our lives. We invite you to consider any one of these courses or the entire Ignatian Spiritual Formation Program (ISFP).

ABOUT the courses

Courses can be taken individually without committing to the Formation Program.

​All courses for 2025-2026 will be held ONLINE. However, Courses may be offered in person, online, or in a hybrid format.

LIS courses are a source of Continuing Enrichment Credit hours for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.

ignatian spiritual formation program (ISFP)
The complete Ignatian Spiritual Formation Program (ISFP) can be completed at your own pace or in as little as 15 months.

To complete the program, the requirements are:

Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life (SEDL) retreat (may be taken before, after or concurrently with Level 1)

Level 1 courses (32 hours)

Level 2 courses (24 hours)

Upon completion of the above, participants will select their specialized path as outlined below.

Paths I and II can be taken concurrently; however each has its own practicum which must be completed.
Path I - Spiritual Accompaniment
This path prepares those who have a desire to companion others in the Spiritual Exercises.
Additional course: Structure and Dynamics of the Spiritual Exercises (8 hrs)
Practicum & Project: An experiential process involving applied learning and mentorship.
Path II - Everyday Leadership
Everyone is a leader. Identify qualities in yourself through the tenets of Ignatian leadership and explore the emergence of these values over time, and how they can be applied in everyday life.
Additional course: Principles of Ignatian Leadership (8 hrs)
Practicum & Project: An experiential process involving applied learning and mentorship.
Upon completion, a certificate is given. This certification serves as confirmation that the participant has satisfactorily completed a minimum of 70+ hours of Ignatian formation in key areas of spirituality, methodology, and sociology. Additionally, the Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life retreat is an experiential and formative 9-month retreat. It affords the retreatant over 200 hrs of reflective prayer, 36 weeks of one-on-one spiritual accompaniment, and 18 hrs of small group faith-sharing where listening, discernment and accompaniment skills are practiced.

​Depending upon where you're feeling called by God, how you wish to answer that call, and the ministry(ies) in which you are already involved, we invite you to consider sharing your ministerial gifts and training as a collaborator with LIS.
